Oil Analysis

Oil analysis is the analysis of new and used oil in industrial applications. Typical analysis includes the measurement of the chemical properties, contamination and wear of the oil. Techniques used are inductive coupled plasma (ICP), wear debris analysis (WDA) and viscosity.

Oil changes are based on the condition of the lubricant. As the oil is changed only when necessary, the cost of replacement oil is reduced, as is the cost and environmental impact of disposing of waste oil. Equipment reliability is also improved, as oil condition is maintained at acceptable standards.

ABB will collect samples of oil from your machines, without holting production. The samples are couriered to a laboratory where they are diagnosed by certified diagnosticians for:

  • Moisture content
  • Chemical properties
  • Wear
  • Contamination
