PVA123 Current / Voltage Instrument Transformer

The PVA123 combined instrument transformers are used for feeding measurement and protection systems in electric power grids with highest system voltage of 123 kV and frequency of 50 Hz.

The PVA123 combined instrument transformer is of top core design; it comprises current and voltage modules encapsulated in common hermetic housing filled with transformer oil.

The current module is located in transformer’s head and voltage module – in its bottom tank.

Top core design makes it possible to achieve high values of thermal and dynamic short-circuit currents as well as broad range of rated primary currents and outputs of secondary windings.

The location of both CT and VT modules in one housing allows for considerable cost savings thanks to:

  • Lower number of transformers in a bay
  • Lower number of supporting structures
  • Lower number of connections
  • Lower transportation costs
  • Lower installation costs
  • Less space at a substation is needed
Other benefits:
  • Initial purchase price advantage (only one transformer instead of two separate units)
  • Internal partial discharges below 10 pC at 1.2 Um according to IEC 60044-3 Standard, always confirmed at routine testing
  • Low dielectric loss factor tan δ
  • Radio Interference Voltage [RIV] 56 µV at 1.1 Um/ 3
  • Conforms to IEC 60044 – 3
  • Maintenance free
  • Long lifespan, over 25 years
