ABB support to the Meridian Energy Queens Wharf Building Project

2007-08-22 - As the supplier of support for Meridian Energy’s entire voice and data platform, ABB are providing the technical infrastructure to ensure security, reliability and availability to Meridian’s Queens Wharf building project, so that data and voice equipment is up and running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ABB’s Telecommunications Infrastructure Management Services (TIMS) team are providing the installation and in service support of the data distribution network, including seamless wired and wireless access, improved network access control and the subsequent network upgrades to Meridian Energy’s satellite offices in the Wellington region.

As part of Meridian’s new technology project, ABB will then lead and facilitate a business-wide network upgrade to allow the roll out of the new technology across the remaining Meridian business throughout New Zealand.

During the preparation for the move to the Queens Wharf building, the network interconnections in the Wellington region have been re-engineered to a dedicated dark fibre platform, for enhanced reliability, and the original Meridian Energy data centre has been relocated from a Meridian building to a bespoke off-site data centre.

As with the existing data and voice facilities management, through-life support for the new network will be solely provided by the ABB TIMS team; enhancing the relationship between ABB and Meridian Energy in the telecommunications field.
